In this lab, we modeled the digestive system. We used a plastic knife to simulate teeth and chewing, milk for the acid in our stomach, and a nylon stocking for the intestines. This week we learned about the respiratory and circulatory systems. In this lab, we made a lung in a bottle using a grocery bag to represent the diaphragm and a balloon to represent the lungs. We were able to see how are diaphragm pushes air in and out of our lungs. Miss Watson built a heart model out of water bottles to demonstrate how oxygen poor blood (blue) and oxygen rich blood (red) move through the heart's four chambers.
